A Rose, by any other name...

When you have an unusual name like Dupaix, you come to expect people to have a problem spelling it, pronouncing it, etc. The most common mispronunciation is something like Duprey or dupree. Today we got a couple of pieces of mail that misspelled our name in ways that had us rolling with laughter.

From Tooele City, I received a check refunding my deposit. It was made out to Karen Dupzix. In the same mail pile was a post card from our mortgage broker addressed to the Dupaxi family. I'd never seen that one before either. Both are clearly just typographical errors, which of course wouldn't be caught by spell-check. I'm thinking of making a collection of name slaughtering samples of our last name! These would make a good start.

Our last name (Droubay) has also had some interesting variations (and alternative pronunciations to be sure). However, I have to say my favorite was the butchering of my first name:

Sahra

Now I've heard of Sara, Sarah, and even Sarha, but Sahra? That was interesting. Seems like it should be an easy one to remember--being that it's pretty common, but I guess not!

Have a great Dupaix day!
